Visualizing Stresses On An Object Using Augmented Reality

Abstract:

Using the SienaEMApp, MARVLS can show complicated 3D concepts on a screen. This is done using augmented reality with a MERGE cube that can visually displays models by a camera. My focus was to figure out how we can use that to study the strength of materials. Our approach was to measure the stresses on objects by focusing on an infinitesimally small area represented by the cube. You can virtually visualize the stress on an area being displayed on the cube and the directions the forces are applied in.
