Mentally ill and medicated in college: Racial differences in treatment experiences

Abstract:

For this summer research, we investigated how treatment experiences varied within racial groups. Focusing on different types of groups ranging from gender, race and age groups. We also compared current literature with data that has been previously collected to see if there were specifics differences or comparisons found with specific cases. These cases consisted of college students that were currently taking prescribed medication for their mental illness and asked about this specifically and how drug advertisements influenced their decisions surrounding treatment for mental health.
